Small group of interested community members met to discuss possibilities of developing a children’s museum.

September 2006

* Created mission, vision, goals and objectives
* Created Powerpoint to present at first informational evening of area residents, community leaders and museum volunteer hopefuls.

October 2006

* Held the first formal slide presentation and discussion with area community residents at the local hospital conference room.
* Informal exhibits were enjoyed by children and attendees
* Many attendees volunteered for museum committees.
* Decided to hold regular monthly planning meetings.

November 2006

* Selected “Caribou Children’s Discovery Museum” as the name.
* First anonymous donation accepted.
* Began pursuing the 501(c)3.
* Became incorporated in the State of Maine.
* Began writing the Business Plan.
* Participated in the Caribou Medical Center Health and Safety Fair.
* Officers elected.

December 2006

* Opened a post office box.
